Great News – We’re now an approved youth training centre!
We are delighted to be able to share the fantastic news that we have been awarded by PADI the status of PADI Approved Youth Training Centre. To attain this accolade we had to meet rigorous criteria such as a large range of children’s dive equipment from wetsuits to regulators and BCDs, and also a large number of our Instructors and Divemasters have successfully passed DBS checks and are therefore approved to work with children. This, coupled with our vast experience in working with children at Bubblemaker, Seal Team, Master Seal Team and Junior Open Water level and beyond means we are excellently placed to be able to offer an amazing service to our young divers.
Each year we run a Dive Camp targeted specifically to the under 16s – where they spend the week with us, completing the theory, pool work and open water work required to attain Junior Open Water diver certification, and be allowed to dive anywhere in the world. This year is no different and Dive Camp is already filling up at the beginning of August. This is partly because we don’t charge any extra for this unique experience – even though it includes transportation to and from dive sites and entry into those sites. We feel this quite literally puts our money where our mouth is when it comes to our passion for getting young people active and involved in diving, and in so doing learning about the importance of the marine environment and what they can do to protect and repair it.
Whilst diving is reserved for those over the age of 8, younger children can still get involved by taking part in one of the many Project Aware specialties that take place in a classroom setting. We do some great games, colouring, word searches and some role play to really get the message across and engage these young ambassadors.
We are also delighted that we can extend our current work with schools such as Farnborough Hill, BCOT and Downe House to other schools in our area, and to other youth groups such as Scouts, Guides and Sea cadets. If you know any such group or school that may be interested, then please let us know and we’d be delighted to get in touch.
