The PADI Divemaster course is the first step into professional scuba diving. It trains you to become a dive leader, assisting instructors with student divers and guiding certified divers. You will develop strong dive theory knowledge, advanced water skills, and professional-level confidence.
To enrol on the PADI Divemaster course, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Be a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
Have Emergency First Response (EFR) training within the last 24 months
Have a minimum of 40 logged dives to start and 60 logged dives to qualify
Be medically fit to dive and complete a medical questionnaire signed by a doctor
The course is flexible and can be completed over 2 weekends or as an intensive programme over a shorter period. The exact duration depends on your availability, experience level and how quickly you complete the required training and practical sessions.
Training takes place in classroom, confined water (local pool) and at approved open water dive sites. Ocean Turtle conducts training locally and during organised open water weekends and dive trips.
You will learn how to:
Supervise diving activities and assist instructors
Guide certified divers
Demonstrate scuba skills to teaching standard
Conduct dive briefings and manage dive logistics
Manage risk and solve problems underwater
Understand dive physics, physiology and equipment
Work with real students during training courses
All training equipment is included if needed; however, Divemasters around the world are expected to use their own full set of scuba diving equipment where possible. This helps you for working professionally in the dive industry.

Yes. You will complete knowledge development reviews, final theory exams (Part of eLearning), water skills assessments, and practical workshops and evaluations.
However it is a course so we will be helping you to learn and improve along the way.
On successful completion of the course, you will earn the PADI Divemaster certification. This is the first professional level in recreational scuba diving and allows you to work as a dive professional worldwide.
Yes. PADI Divemaster is a globally recognised qualification and allows you to work in dive centres and resorts around the world, subject to visa and employment regulations.
All candidates must complete a PADI medical questionnaire. And written clearance from a GP will be needed before starting the course. Click here for more info.
Yes. After qualifying as a Divemaster, you can continue your professional training by enrolling on the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). As Ocean Turtle is a PADI 5-star Career Development Centre we can start you IDC the day after being certified as a PADI Divemaster with a few as 60 dives normlay 100.

The PADI Divemaster application fee is a mandatory fee paid directly to PADI when you apply for your Divemaster qualification. This fee covers the processing of your certification, registration as a PADI Divemaster, and activation of your professional membership. Not included in course cost.
