developed by PADI, the IDC is recogognized worldwide
as the most in depth scuba instructor training
program in the world. Evertything you've done in
your scuba diving career has helped you prepare for
this course.
In the PADI Instructor Development
Course (IDC) there are two distict
components.
The
Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the
Open
Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.
PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course:
The AI course is a minimum of three days
and includes classroom, confined water and open
water teaching sessions. It intoduces you to
the teaching techniques for scuba diving skills and
knowledge development. The course concentrates on on
duties and programs that PADI AIs may conduct
independently.
Successfully completing this course earns you an
AI certification and qualifies you to continue with
the OWSI program.
Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) Program:
The OWSI course is a minimum of four days. It
builds on what you have leant as an
AI, introduces you to
the enitre PADI System of Education and focuses on further
developing your abilities as a professional
dive educator.
Ocean Turtle recognises that not
all instructor candidates can readily take time off
work and so we offer IDC programs on either a full
or part-time basis.
We can also combine the IDC and
Instructor Exam (IE) with a trip to Dahab in Egypt
where we use the facilities at
Fantasea Red
Sea to complete the Open Water workshops of your
IDC in the clear, warm waters of the Red Sea.
We are also a Ministry of
Defence ELCAS approved education provider and offer
instructor training programs to military personnel.
MSDT Preparation and
Specialty Instructor Training
If you are in a hurry to get to
MSDT then one otion is to
complete specialty
instructor training with one of our Course
Directors. You can then issue certifications, not
only for PADI core courses, but also for the
specialities you hold instructor ratings in. A
popular option for new instructors is to complete
the MSDT preparation package of five specialities so
that you can apply to PADI for MSDT as soon as you
have issued 25 diving certifications.
Internship and On-going
Mentorship
At Ocean Turtle we know that
passing the IE is just the beginning of your career
and that there will be times that you will have
questions and occasionally doubts about how best to
progress to the next stage. When starting out there
seems a lot to learn about the dive industry nad we
a re able to offer candidates the option of a three
month internship program with
Fantasea
Red Sea and on-going career mentorship from our
Course Directors to help you on your way. Pleae call
and talk to one of our CD's for more information.
